TiNA 2022
An event site for the infamous fringe festival.
The project
This is Not Art is a Newcastle-based festival featuring emerging and experimental artists. TiNA has been running for over 25 years, and have collaborated with Headjam several times over the last few years.
The tech
The main challenge of the TiNA website was the dynamic, constantly evolving nature of the festival. Events are often changed, cancelled, and moved at the last minute. Any solution developed therefore needed a quick and easy way to not only modify events on the fly, but also to alert the end-users that a change had occurred. Craft CMS was chosen for its flexibility and ease of use for the client, and also because it provided an out-of-the-box GraphQL integration for any potential third-party integrations.

The fun
The centrepiece of the TiNA 2022 campaign was The Monolith - a seven foot tall black rectangular prism glowing with the festival name, and filmed in various locations around Newcastle. We had to get it into the website! The Monolith was re-created in Blender and rendered on our friendly HTML canvas using Babylon.js. The 3D model tracks the user's mouse (or finger, on mobile devices), and has a subtle reflection of the night sky.
